This Major from the Bachelor of Business is designed for students seeking careers as professional accountants or as business managers, whose success depends on a sound appreciation of financial issues. This course combines grounding in the principles, preparation and analysis of accounting statements with up-to-date applications of relevant information technology.
Measurement, analysis and communication are the focus of accounting, in order to provide information useful for decisionmaking by a wide group of stakeholders. This Major provides a combination of core and elective units to facilitate entry into the professional examination programs of all Australian accounting bodies.

Students should ensure they study the appropriate units to satisfy the educational requirements of these professional bodies.
The degree is also recognised by the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Certified Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
