ECU Learning Centre
The Learning Advisers are now located in the Learning Centre. More information is available on the ECU Learning Centre web pages.
Location
The Learning Centre on the Mount Lawley Campus operates from building 3 (next to Careers) and on the Joondalup Campus from level 2 in building 18 from mid-August. Contact details for Learning Adviserss can be found on the Meet the Team web pages.
On offer
A comprehensive range of learning activities, drop-in sessions and workshops is offered through the Learning Centre. Students can now book in for the ICT workshop series (conducted by Andrew Sidebottom, the specialist ICT Learning Advisor). Bookings can be made on via ECU Learning Centre website.
Students with ESL needs
The Learning Centre has three Learning Advisers with specialist ESL qualifications so you can direct students with ESL needs to Joanna Ashton, Karen Gaffney or Kuki Singh. All LAs work across both campuses so they can meet with students at whichever campus best suits. It would be helpful if you could let the Learning Advisors know in advance of specific referrals and how they might support your work with these students (including the option to work with you in class).
Evenings and Saturdays
The Learning Centre also offers workshops in the evenings and on Saturdays. Students who work during the week are particularly encouraged to attend these sessions.
Workshops for units
Staff can contact the Manager of Student Retention and Support on X5277 or one of the learning advisers to request targeted and embedded workshops in specific units.
