Deferred and supplementary examinations
Students wishing to defer an examination can find the relevant information and forms from the Assessments website.
Students who have been granted a deferred exam, or a supplementary exam, and are not able to attend at the designated time may apply to the Faculty for special consideration to sit the exam at an alternative time.
Only students who have been granted a deferred exam by the Assessments Office, or a supplementary exam following a Faculty Board of Examiners are eligible to apply.
Students must contact the Faculty Student Information Office and submit an application for special consideration in writing, setting out the grounds for which special consideration is sought and provide sufficient written evidence to support the application using the appropriate form.
Applications for special consideration should be made prior to the date of the deferred or supplementary examination; where circumstances make this impossible applications must be submitted no later than three days after the examination to the Student Information Office or email to businessandlaw@ecu.edu.au .
You may only apply for a deferral on one or more of the following grounds:
- ill health or injury (supporting Medical certificates must be supplied)
- compassionate grounds
- a matter relating to your employment
- other special grounds considered appropriate by the Manager, SIO (eg representation in sporting activities at a state or national level, representation in cultural/religious activities etc)
You will be notified of the outcome of your application via your ECU student email account. If you are successful, you will be notified of the date and time of your exam, which shall be no later than the end of teaching week 6 in the semester following that for which the deferred or supplementary exam was granted. If you are unable to attend at the designated time specified by the Faculty you will not be eligible to apply for a further deferral.
