“To learn from lecturers who are so passionate is an amazing opportunity for any student.”

"The best bit about Tourism at ECU? Definitely the practical industry experience. Many assignments involved interaction with the tourism industry, and the contacts made were very valuable in finding employment. The excellent facilities enhanced my study experience - the new library and e-lab are great. I found ECU a very supportive and engaging environment. The tourism lecturers were so brilliant that my greatest challenge was giving up studies to go work!”

Katie McKenzie

ECU Law graduate, Katie McKenzie “ECU’s law degree bridges the gap between theory and practice.”

"In my first year of Law at ECU I was conducting mediations and negotiations, and by my third year I was interviewing clients under supervision! So, by the time I graduated , I was job-ready. I was made a number of job offers from some of the top law firms before I even graduated. If I had to pick a highlight of doing my course, it would be being selected for a Judge’s Associateship with the Supreme Court WA.”

Steven Rose

ECU Sport Management Student, Steven Rose“I followed my interests to find the perfect course.”

“I have always had a love of sports, so when I was first looking at university courses, Sport Management at ECU stood out straight away. The best part of my course is the industry practice which lead to a position in a resort pro-shop and as their events assistant. You gain hands-on experience in a range of different fields and can learn so much more than you would just in a classroom. I am constantly learning and able to apply it when I’m out there working in the real world.”

Gabby Clarke

ECU Law Student. Gabby Clarke
“The hands-on law experience is invaluable. You just can’t learn that stuff in a lecture.”

“I’ve always been interested in human rights, so I chose ECU for my law degree. The emphasis is definitely on law that makes a positive difference to society. I was also attracted by the smaller class sizes. It makes all the difference when you are tackling the more challenging concepts of law! But for me, the opportunity to get hands-on, practical experience with alternate dispute resolution and in the onsite community legal practice was more than I could resist. Not only is it exciting and engaging, it will put me in a better space to make a difference when I graduate.”

Lecturers at ECU know what they are teaching. They are from the industry themselves or have been part of the industry for many years. I feel very supported - one of my lecturers has provided me with contacts and job opportunities within the industry. Through the jobs link on the ECU website I got work experience with Octagon (an events company) at the Gravity Games H2O and the XXXX Gold Beach Cricket."
